① Beautiful Literary Compositions for Lower Primary Students

Monday 9 September – Wednesday 11 September

10 am – 12 pm

Good writing has never been more relevant than it is today. Far from being an exercise in merely memorising phrases and storylines, the beauty of composition writing is in how it trains our youngest minds to become skilled content creators. At Academia, we believe that writing beautifully is an essential skill for Generation Z, especially for those who aspire to join the ranks of the global financial, managerial and entrepreneurial elite.

Over three days, we will write three different stories using our in-house mnemonic that represents a distillation of advanced literary techniques into an easy-to-remember format: the A.C.A.D.E.M.I.C. Guide to Adding Literary Details to Your Composition.

This programme is designed for Primary 3 & 4 students, but is also suitable for advanced Primary 1 & 2 students.

② The Great Academia PSLE Composition Marathon

Session 1: Monday 9 September – Wednesday 11 September

10 am – 12 pm

Session 2: Wednesday 11 September – Friday 13 September

12 pm – 2 pm

As the PSLE approaches, it’s time to hunker down and practise writing. Elite students at peak performance know that practice is essential and that real examination preparation involves doing the work itself, rather than listening or flipping through notes. We’re here to give you the perfect academic environment to put your writing skills to the test – before the actual test itself.

Session 1 will cover the following topics:

❶ A Challenge

❷ Overcoming A Disappointment

❸ An Act of Kindness

Session 2 will cover the following topics:

❹ Making A Choice

❺ Overcoming A Temptation

❻ A Surprise

All students will receive a Short Story that functions both as a scaffolded model and a source of inspiration for writing, which will be dissected and annotated in a literary manner during the lesson.

③ The Art of the Argumentative Essay

Wednesday 11 September & Thursday 12 September

3 pm – 5 pm

The argumentative essay is the archetypal essay that takes you all the way from Year 1 English to General Paper – and beyond. The structure you learn and the method of question analysis are skills that will continue to pay dividends even as you ascend to higher education and into the corporate world.

Join us for a two-day intensive workshop of analysing, planning and writing argumentative essays. This workshop is specifically designed and especially suitable for all Secondary English and General Paper students.
