Short Holiday Programmes for Uncommon Budding Minds

Preparatory Programmes

Our preparatory programmes are short weekly courses to help ease the transition into new educational systems and curricula. So you can focus on enjoying the experience of a new environment and have time to smell the roses.

Holiday Workshops

Our holiday workshops are 3-day workshops designed to give you an intensive and immersive experience doing writing and learning. In essence, fertile ground to develop and revise the skills to flourish in the years to come.

① Foundation Prep Programme

A strong foundation in English is a lifelong asset. Our proposition: it’s easier to lay the right foundation for writing well from a young age than to disentangle the effects of poor preparation, the gamut of which runs from grammatical sloppiness to uninspired vocabulary. Join us to start building the assets that will help your child stay ahead in an increasingly polarised world.

We have taken the fundamental Primary One syllabus, added intellectual sophistication and exposure to the mix, and designed our Foundation Prep Programme to be engaging, inspiring and charming.

Over the years, we have consistently seen our best and brightest accelerate through the levels to reach remarkable levels of intellectual development and giftedness by Level One and Two.

③ General Paper Prep Programme

To be honest, this is the best General Paper programme in Singapore.

Many General Paper centres conflate lectures, slides and a lot of talking, with little work done to show for it. That’s not how we do it at Academia. We provide substantial, intelligent and detailed content notes and essay plans. We do actual writing in class, with detailed and helpful individualised feedback. No mass-market talk shops here.

Our General Paper Prep Programme is taught by Mr Olivier Tan, our Academic Head of the Integrated Programme and Literature. The syllabus has been field-tested and designed by a former RI GP teacher and Oxford PhD, Dr Neil Coomber, our Director of Pre-University Studies. A diverse swathe of students, including Humanities students, have joined our programme and made remarkable progress in their General Paper grades.

Throughout the programme, you will learn how to apply content and skills through constant practice. Analyse keywords in essay questions, brainstorm and strategise, write topic sentences, and construct sophisticated body paragraphs that show what you know about contemporary global issues. It’s the first step towards achieving your General Paper goals.

⑥ Literature Appreciation Workshop

The bewildering subjectivity of Literature in Secondary school is a source of frustration for many students. However, what many students don’t realise is that Literature, like any other subject, does have its own set of conventions and expectations. Writing a sophisticated literary analysis requires literary sensitivity to the text, a structural approach to your analysis, and precisely deployed vocabulary to construct your argument. This workshop will help you understand the method to the madness. You might even find that it is a deeply enriching and rewarding subject!

We will be conducting 2 sessions at our Ivy Campus.
