You might be wondering who I am and what I am here for. Think of me as a constellation of academic and administrative resources, which will grow and flourish over time. I will enhance and enrich your learning journey with Academia. I am the bright morning star of our digitalisation project. 

There have been months of calibration and testing. Now, I am ready for exploration. Accounts have been set up. You will have received an account activation email.

What is Cogito and how is it powered by Brightspace?

Cogito is our new digital platform that enables learning, communication and results tracking. Brightspace is a world leader in learning management platforms. Academia has engaged Brightspace to provide a digital learning experience for all our clients to replace our previous systems and aggregate them beautifully under one seamless experience. 

What can I do with Cogito?

As a learning management system, Cogito powered by Brightspace will be an online repository for all the learning materials for Academia students. This will include videos, notes, worksheets as well as online quizzes and questions. Online lessons for Masterclass students will eventually be moved off Zoom to Cogito as well. You will also be able to revisit the lesson online.

How will this affect my current lessons?

Academia will be transitioning to this platform in various stages. As of now, all classes that you have enrolled in are unaffected. Online students will eventually use Cogito instead of Zoom for their regular lessons. Do not fear: Masterclasses will still continue as they always have.

Do I need to pay an additional charge to use Cogito?

For Masterclass students, there is no need to pay an additional fee. Cogito is now part of the Academia learning environment for Masterclass students.

Account Issues

How do I access Cogito?

The login page is cogito.brightspace.com. (Note: no “ www.”)

We recommend that you access Cogito through your desktop. 

Students should log in using their Learner account; correspondingly, parents should log in using their Parent account on this same login page. 

Is there a smartphone app that I can use to access Cogito?

Yes, there is. The app is called Brightspace Pulse. All clients may access their account on Brightspace Pulse. The app may be obtained here (Google Play) and here (Apple Store). 

As convenient as the app is for the full learning experience that includes all features, we strongly recommend that you use your desktop browser. 

How do I access my account? 

An account activation email will be sent to your registered email with your login ID, as well as a link to set your password. Take note that Parents and Students will each get their own accounts and activation emails.

I forgot my password. What do I do?

On the login page at cogito.brightspace.com, there is an option to click if you have forgotten your password. 

If this is your first time logging in, you will need to follow the instructions on the account activation email that has been sent.

What is the difference between a Learner and a Parent account? 

A Learner account is specifically for an enrolled student to access their courses and all related materials. A Parent account allows parents to access their child’s grades and portfolio.

Using Cogito

How do I track my child’s learning on Cogito?

All parents will have access to their own Parent account, which is different from the Learner account. 

On Parent accounts, you will be able to view the test scores of your child, as well as any quiz or assignment that has been completed. 

Can I download the worksheets and materials that are assigned to my child from Cogito? 

All worksheets and materials that are assigned to your child cannot be downloaded and are accessible from your child’s Learner account only. You will be able to access these resources at any time throughout your child’s learning journey with us. 

Will Cogito replace all current Zoom lessons?

Cogito has a Virtual Classroom function which we will use for Masterclasses Online. 

More announcements will be made in subsequent months as we transition towards the use of Cogito Virtual Classrooms in place of Zoom. 

Will you still courier the materials to me for Masterclass Online classes?

For now, we plan to continue couriering the materials to you.
