Academia Summer Intensives

Academia’s June Intensives are designed for students who wish to use the holidays with purpose: to consolidate essential skills, close learning gaps, and enter the second half of the academic year with greater confidence. Each intensive focuses on a specific high-stakes component, from O Level Oral communication to JC General Paper and Paper 2 skills, with clear frameworks, guided practice, and exam-relevant feedback. These are not general revision sessions, but carefully structured programmes that help students understand what the examination demands, organise their thinking with greater discipline, and express their answers with composure and precision.

O Level Oral Skills Intensive

The O Level Oral Skills Intensive is a focused workshop designed to equip students with the confidence, structure, and expressive control needed to tackle the Oral examination with clarity and precision. Students will be guided through a step-by-step approach to each stage of the Oral component, from making full use of preparation time to crafting a thoughtful Planned Response and engaging fluently in Spoken Interaction. Through clear frameworks, guided practice, and exposure to exam-relevant themes, students will learn how to organise their ideas, develop personal viewpoints, and respond with greater assurance under examination conditions.

Each student will also receive a curated information pack containing sample ideas, discussion angles, and useful examples drawn from relevant contemporary topics. This will serve as a practical revision resource as they continue preparing for the examination.

As part of the programme, students will receive a complimentary one-to-one oral practice session. During this session, they will undergo an exam-realistic oral simulation before receiving detailed, personalised feedback on their performance, including their content development, fluency, clarity of expression, and overall delivery.

JC 1 June Holiday Crash Course

• Analyse essay question keywords accurately to fully understand question requirements
• Strengthen micro-writing skills for every aspect of PEEL, from crafting strong topic sentences to developing explanations and links
• Apply evaluation techniques and rebuttals to produce more nuanced and persuasive arguments
• Master comprehension question types and effective answering strategies
• Improve summary writing through concise paraphrasing and precision
• Develop a clear and structured approach to the Application Question (AQ), including identifying, analysing, and evaluating arguments critically

JC2 GP Paper 2 Crash Course

The JC2 General Paper Paper 2 Crash Course is a focused holiday programme designed to help students strengthen their comprehension, summary, and Application Question skills ahead of the demands of the second half of the year.

With many JC2 students facing timed practices shortly after the June holidays, this course provides timely reinforcement at a crucial point in their A Level preparation. Students will be guided through key Paper 2 skills, including passage analysis, question interpretation, inference, language analysis, summary precision, and the development of clear, text-based Application Question responses.

Through structured frameworks, guided annotation, and exam-style practice, students will learn to read more strategically, avoid common pitfalls, and express their answers with greater accuracy and control under timed conditions.

This course is especially suited for students who wish to use the June holidays as a catch-up or consolidation period before intensifying their preparation for the A Level examinations.
