Winter Holiday Programmes 2025

This winter, Academia invites students to partake in our distinguished Holiday Programmes—an annual tradition of academic excellence and intellectual refinement. Spanning from two-day workshops to three-day symposiums, each programme is designed with precision to address the most exacting areas of the English syllabus, with particular emphasis on the craft of writing.

For over a decade, our Holiday Programmes have stood as a hallmark of quality and rigour. Every module is meticulously renewed each year, informed by our students’ achievements, evolving global standards, and the latest developments in educational research. The result is a suite of courses that embody both tradition and innovation in equal measure.

These are not mere holiday diversions. They are deliberate, high-calibre investments in a student’s academic and intellectual growth—an opportunity to learn, to aspire, and to excel.

WRITING 002:
George’s Marvellous Medicine: Fundamentals Writing and Tableau Workshop

Every memorable story begins with a character worth knowing.

In this two-day Writing & Tableau Workshop, our lower primary students will learn to give their creations depth and dimension—exploring how thoughts, feelings, and motivations shape the people who inhabit their stories. Through guided storytelling and expressive tableau exercises, they will come to see that great writing begins with empathy.

With a focus on characterisation and imaginative expression, students will discover how to transform understanding into artistry—translating emotion and insight into writing that feels alive. It is a brief workshop, but a remarkable introduction to the craft of storytelling.

WRITING 110:
Everyday Heroes – A Characterisation Workshop

The finest writers build their stories around characters—anchoring imagination in something vivid, tangible, and profoundly human. This workshop invites Primary 3 and 4 students to do the same: to discover how great storytelling begins with the people who inhabit the page.

Across two days, students will explore the essential elements of narrative through a series of engaging, sensory-based activities. Each exercise is carefully designed to help young writers internalise the textures of good writing—translating what they feel and perceive into words that move and resonate.

From grammar and vocabulary enrichment to kinaesthetic character work and emotional expression, the workshop nurtures both technical skill and creative confidence. By the end, each student will have crafted original pieces of writing—guided by a newfound understanding of storyboarding and the art of bringing characters to life.
