Academia September Holiday Programme 2025

Each September, we welcome a new cohort of young writers to Academia’s refined and academically rigorous short-format writing programmes. The Academia September Holiday Programme 2025 offers a suite of focused, 3-day writing symposiums for Primary 1 to Primary 6 students, specially designed to target high-impact areas of the MOE English syllabus.

These are not your average enrichment classes. They are academic writing intensives, developed and fine-tuned over more than a decade to reflect the evolving demands of PSLE English composition, global literacy benchmarks, and the individual learning progress of our students.

Each session is calibrated to deliver clarity, structure, and measurable writing confidence — especially in the area many students struggle with: narrative and story-writing. Whether your child needs help organising ideas, writing more compelling openings, or improving their plot structure, this is a unique opportunity to experience one of Singapore’s most refined English writing programmes for primary school students.

WRITING 001:
Classic Stories – Composition Fundamentals

For younger learners, writing can be daunting. This foundational module builds confidence and structure through timeless stories that every child knows.

Over three mornings, students will explore the core elements of a compelling narrative: character, setting, conflict, climax, and resolution. With classic fairy tales as scaffolding, they will learn how to retell, adapt, and eventually create their own stories — with attention to flow, sequence, and cause-effect reasoning.

By the end of the programme, your child won’t just be writing longer stories — they’ll be writing better ones. With a firm grasp of structure and a new toolbox of techniques, they’ll learn how to shape clear beginnings, logical middles, and satisfying endings.

WRITING 101:
Values and Virtues: A Composition Module

Stories are never just stories. They are mirrors of who we are — and who we aspire to be. This thoughtful workshop teaches students how to weave virtues such as compassion, integrity, and kindness into their writing.

Drawing from fables, contemporary tales, and real-world scenarios, students will practise writing about dilemmas and choices, understanding that character development is as important as plot progression.

By the end of the module, students will have authored three polished stories, each one showcasing a nuanced grasp of both moral tension and narrative flow.

WRITING 201:
Three Classic Storylines: A PSLE Composition Intensive

PSLE composition success is never just about writing well. It’s about writing smart — choosing the right storyline, applying the right techniques, and responding to prompts with structure and flair.

This upper-primary intensive explores three narrative blueprints that have proven successful in national exams. Students will learn how to introduce characters with purpose, structure rising tension, and conclude meaningfully. Techniques include scene-building, emotional description, dialogue pacing, and vocabulary elevation.

Expect rigorous feedback, real-time editing, and targeted practice that simulates PSLE conditions. This workshop is ideal for students who want to gain strategic insight — and a confidence boost — as they approach the national exams.
